How to Care for your Art Jewelry

A simple step by step guide

Caring for art jewelry doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require some knowledge. Luckily, I can help you!

You are now the proud owner of a one of a kind original piece of Art Jewelry… and it doesn’t look anything like the rest of the pieces in your jewelry box. You know how to clean the rest of your jewelry, but this new piece… you’re just not sure what to do with it. That gorgeous gift box came with some kind of cloth… and a pamphlet… or something.

Not to worry. Papers and care guides disappear at my house too- it’s why I’ve put all this information on my studio website as well!

Step 1

Is your jewelry made entirely of Gold?

You’ve probably noticed that the gold in your jewelry isn’t as shiny as it was when you first opened the gift box. It may look a little dull- but it’s not due to tarnish. You probably have a slight build up of make up, lotion, or other products on your jewelry!

Don’t worry, it just needs a little cleaning, and it will be as bright and sparkly as it once was.

OR
Does your jewelry contain Silver?

You’ve probably noticed that the silver isn’t as shiny as it was when you first opened the gift box. It may look a little dull- or it may even be a different color! That’s because Silver tarnishes. Even the new alloys that aren’t supposed to tarnish… eventually do anyways. You may even have a slight build up of makeup, lotion, or other products on your jewelry! It happens to all jewelry eventually.

Don’t worry, it just needs a little cleaning, and it will be as bright and sparkly as it once was.

Does your Art Jewelry feature any Gemstones?
