Yay and Hurrah! It’s officially Fall at my house. This morning, there was frost on the crimson leaves, the fog was so thick I couldn’t see through it, and I had to break out my beloved cashmere socks.

The best part, however, was having my kids ask excitedly about a cozy family day. Hot chocolate, marshmallows, and endless rounds of games and puzzles. As it’s Monday- and a school day- we had to postpone, unfortunately. However! It was such a nice feeling to know that my kids have the same love of cozy family time that I do. And I’m fervently hoping that Saturday will dawn foggy and cold…

To commemorate th first truly Fall day I’m going to share my favorite Autumn morning coffee. This recipe makes either 1 large mug, or two small mugs. I prefer my monster 14 ounce mug, which is lusciously pictured below…

Kaelin’s Autumn Coffee

10 oz milk.
1 tsp almond extract
2 tsp white sugar
2 shots espresso, or 1/4 c strong coffee
1 stick chocolate- I use semi sweet, but it’s up to you.
2 large spoonfuls real whipped cream
1 tsp brown sugar mixed with a dash of cinnamon.

Steam the milk, and stir in the extract and the 2 tsps white sugar. You can also just steam sweetened Almond milk if you have some. Stir in the espresso with the stick of chocolate. Top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with the brown sugar mix.

Happy Fall!
